Sports bettors in Tennessee will soon have access to White Hat Gaming’s “traveling wallet” for gambling.
The wallet enables players who cross into different states where sports betting is legal and live — and where White Hat Gaming has been approved — to retain their account balances without the need to add new funds in each state. The product launched in early 2020, and it’s been approved in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, and Colorado, all of which have legal sports betting over the internet.
“The process offers the player a seamless wallet functionality, with background transfers recorded in state ledgers for regulatory reporting and accounting purposes,” the company said in a statement.
According to White Hat Gaming’s website, its only current client that has been approved for sports gambling in Tennessee is Penn National Gaming, which operates the Barstool Sportsbook. That sportsbook hasn’t yet launched in the Volunteer State, but it is expected sometime this fall.
Barstool and White Hat Gaming have a relationship dating back to late 2019.

White Hat Gaming is just the latest supplier to receive approval in Tennessee. Suppliers differ from operators, which are the sportsbooks.
